What does Feng Shui have to do with my home’s main door?

Feng Shui Master Daniel Ong sharing some advice what makes a good Feng Shui main door

In Residential Feng Shui, there two important aspects of analysis. Firstly, the external environment which is the surrounding of the property and secondly, it is the internal environment which is the internal decor and layout of the property.

Internal Feng Shui

In the internal decoy and layout, there are 3 key elements of Feng Shui that is:-

  1. Main Door
  2. Bedroom
  3. Kitchen Stove

In Feng Shui’s jargon, the main door is commonly referred to as the “Qi Mouth”“Qi” is a term for energy flow in Chinese metaphysics and “Qi Mouth” refers to the entrance receiving the incoming energy flow.

For a good Feng Shui main door, its shape is should be rectangular and the door size should be proportional to the size of the property. If the main door is too small, it limits the energy flow entering into the property. If it is too big, it affects the energy flow circulating within or exiting out of the property.

That is why it is always advisable to keep the main door unblocked and its pathway uncluttered allowing energy to flow in seamlessly to the property.

It is also worthy to note that in modern living, most people live in apartments within high-rise buildings. Lower level apartments would attract stronger earth energy as compared to higher level apartments.

External Feng Shui

The external environment has a significant impact on the Feng Shui of the main door.

Good To Have

If the main door has an External Bright Hall, which is a wide and open space, it is considered as good Feng Shui as it can collect positive energy in the open space and dispel any negative energy. Based on the Chinese metaphysics interpretation, the main door with an External Bright Hall symbolizes having a bright future for the owner of the property.

Best To Avoid

Many may not know that external objects and structures can have adverse impacts on the Feng Shui of the main door. Some of the common issues are:-

1. Main door facing lift

The intermittent opening and closing of the lift creating multiple gushes of negative energies rushing in directly at the main door which is considered as bad Feng Shui.

2. Main door facing lamp post

If there is a lamp post outside of the main door, it is considered as bad Feng Shui as negative energy is created by the form of the lamp post directing at the main door.

3. Main door facing the big tree

If there is a big tree outside of the main door, it is considered as bad Feng Shui as negative energy is created by the form of the big tree directing at the main door. Furthermore, the big tree absorbs the energy in the surrounding area depriving the energy flowing in through the main door.

4. Main door facing the staircase

If the main door is very close to the staircase, it is considered as bad Feng Shui as the flow of energy entering the main door is disrupted by the form of the staircase.

5. Main door facing the door

If the main door is facing another door, the energy flowing into the main door would rush into the entrance of another door that results in the energy unable to retain or circulate in the living hall. It is considered as bad Feng Shui which may result in some degree of wealth loss which varies from person to person.
