Feng Shui in the Bedroom
Feng Shui Master Daniel Ong sharing on what makes a good Feng Shui Bedroom
Our bedroom is a place where we rest and rejuvenate our strength after a day of hard work. Only with proper rest, we replenish our energies to take care of daily work challenges and chores. Feng Shui can only work with a healthy mind and body. Hence, the importance of our bedroom in Feng Shui can never be underestimated.
Here are some basic guidelines on how you should arrange the décor and layout of your bedroom:-
1. Window behind bed
This is a common sight that that bedhead is leaned against the window. This is bad Feng Shui form as it creates an imbalance of yin versus yang energies which affects the quality of your rest and health conditions.
As a cure, you may consider to move the bedhead against a solid wall or close the window with a thick curtain.
2. Beam over the bed
This is bad Feng Shui form if there is a ceiling beam over the head position of the bed, which creates a suppressing force downward affecting the head or upper body of the occupants. This would affect the quality of your rest that results in higher work stress, poorer health, and work performance of the occupants.
As a cure, you may consider to box up the entire section of the overhead beam.
3. Bed and mirror
Using mirrors in the bedroom is not advisable. This is bad for Feng Shui especially if the mirror is facing directly the bed. Firstly, it creates a false psychological impression of another person’s image in the bedroom which disrupts your peace of mind. Secondly, the mirror has a reflective effect on your energy field affecting the quality of your rest during the night.
As a cure, you may consider to remove the mirror or place a curtain over the mirror when you are asleep.
4. Bed facing the door
This is bad Feng Shui if the leg position of the bed is facing the door. This is because when the door opens, energy flow will rush in and crash towards the bed, resulting in negative energy affecting the quality of your rest. Do take precautions when you plan your bed orientation.
5. Irregular or slanted ceiling over the bed
This is commonly seen if you are living in a rooftop unit in which the ceiling can be slanted or irregularly shaped. This is a bad Feng Shui form as it is difficult for energy flow to accumulate in the room. The occupants would feel restless and frustrated.
As a cure, you may consider flattening the ceiling to create the rectangular space of a room.
6. Pillar in the bedroom
It is not ideal to have any pillars in the bedroom especially if it is located at the centre of the bedroom. This is bad Feng Shui form as it affects the health of the occupants. Complete removal of pillars is necessary.
7. Hanging fans or lights over bed
There are cases whereby owner prefers to install a hanging fan or light in the ceiling of their bedroom due to space constraints or décor purposes. These irregular fixtures at the ceiling create a suppressing force or bad energy down towards the person sleeping on the bed. This is very bad for Feng Shui and overtime, it would have a detrimental impact on the health of the occupants.
